MD Viewer is built as a local-first markdown preview and markdown viewer. This policy explains what stays in your browser, what is sent to our server, and how shared documents are handled on mdviewer.cc.
1. Local-first editing
Markdown you type or import is processed in your browser for live preview, code highlighting, Mermaid diagrams, formulas, exports, and print/PDF workflows. We do not upload your document while you are simply editing or previewing it.
2. Browser storage
MD Viewer stores your open tabs, document titles, editor content, theme, and display preferences in localStorage so your workspace can be restored on the same device. You can clear this data by clearing browser site data.
3. Share links
When you choose Share, MD Viewer creates a password-protected, read-only link for your Markdown document. To provide that link, MD Viewer stores the shared Markdown content and related metadata, such as the document title, language, content size, creation time, update time, expiration time, and share identifier. It also stores protected verification data for the access password and delete token, but not the raw access password or delete token. Visitors must enter the access password. Share links expire after 10 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, or 3 days, depending on the option you choose.
4. Delete tokens
The delete token is shown only after a share is created. Keep it private because anyone with the delete token can remove the shared document before it expires.
5. Files and exports
Imported Markdown files are read by the browser. Downloaded Markdown, copied HTML, exported HTML, SVG, PNG, and PDF files are generated on your device unless you explicitly create a share link.
6. Analytics and advertising
MD Viewer does not include advertising scripts. If we add privacy-respecting analytics later, this policy will be updated before collection begins.
7. Service providers
When you open MD Viewer or a share link, limited request information such as IP address, request time, and user agent may be processed to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
